T-minus 18 Hours: Sailing From Florida to the Bahamas & Beyond

Rosa Linda

Sometime after midnight tonight, unless the weather changes, we will be leaving sight of the shore. In the run up to this launch I have tried to reach out to all of my kids’ teachers and coaches and as many of our family and friends as possible. We took trips to Tucson and Phoenix, Sequim and Spokane, Chicago, Miami, Puerto Rico and several other places in the past few months. But the reality is, as I am in the thick of trying to prep the boat while also leaving wide berth for the big emotions swirling around among the Dawn Treader crew, I realize I won’t have time to connect with everyone I had wanted to. Even when you live on a boat there is just never enough time.

As for how our sailing preps are going I will admit this time has felt harder than the last two times we made this same crossing. There have been more melt-downs and second-guessing. Still, with my eye on being in Puerto Rico by January, I am hopeful this will prove to be the right choice for my family in the long run.

In case you want to follow our journey here are a few ways to do so:

Join the “New Mexi-Castaways Crew.” This will give you access to a private Facebook group and a Google Photos album where I will share more of our photos and videos along the way.

Listen to my Audio Journal on Anchor (But be forewarned, this really should be called, “Rosa Linda’s Ramblings”.)

Subscribe to my YouTube channel, New Mexicast TV

Or just check our waypoints to give you and idea where we are from time to time at Farkwar.com

Thanks for all your support! I’ll check in when we can.

Bahamas (and ultimately, Puerto Rico), here we come!
